Big-AGI is the workbench people switch to when one model, one app, or one router stops being enough. Below: honest comparisons with the tools you are probably weighing. Where another one fits your case better, we say so.

Side-by-side answers are common. A merged answer is rare. A merge you can program is, as far as we can verify, one of a kind.
| Product | Side-by-side | Merged answer | Merge you control |
|---|---|---|---|
| Big-AGI | 2 to 24 in parallel | 4 Fusion programs | Your prompts, your personas |
| TypingMind | Yes | Finalize, since Jul 2025 | – |
| Open WebUI | Yes | Admin template | Admin-level only |
| Msty | Split Chats | – | – |
| LM Studio · Jan | – | – | – |
| ChatGPT · Claude apps | – | – | – |

How Beam and Fusions work ->OpenRouter users
Big-AGI works well on top of OpenRouter: one key, hundreds of models, and the whole workbench rides on it. Beam, personas, parameters, local-first chats. Many of our users run exactly this, and it is a fine place to start.
When you want more, add vendors natively. A direct integration carries each vendor's full controls: thinking budgets, reasoning effort, verbosity, web search. Requests take one fewer hop, and one fewer party handles your prompts. Rates are the vendor's own, no markup and no intermediary.
Continuity
Msty
“Data does not sync between devices.” Their docs, verbatim.
Jan
Local files on one machine; no sync exists.
LM Studio
LM Link mirrors a running desktop to an iPhone. Desktop off, history off.
TypingMind
Optional cloud sync, 50 MB free tier.
Big-AGI is local-first: chats live on your device and work offline. Cloud Sync, the Pro feature ($10.99/mo), replicates chats and personas across your devices in about a second, and when two devices edit the same chat it shows you the conflict instead of silently picking a side. Everything exports to JSON or Markdown whenever you want out.
Model-versus-model verdicts expire monthly and differ by task. Run Claude, GPT, and Gemini on your actual question, side by side, and fuse the strongest answer. The verdict stops being someone else's benchmark and becomes your evidence.
The closest cousin: a one-time-license BYOK client, and the only other tool in this list that ships a merge.
Finalize Mode arrived in July 2025 and has not moved since; the 2026 changelog is model-catalog upkeep. In Big-AGI the merge is half the product: four Fusion programs, your own instructions, per-persona merges, Beam Teams, and a page of shipped changes most weeks.
“TypingMind does not allow specifying custom merge prompts, and more advanced features feel buggy or have non-intuitive design.”

The self-hosting default, deservedly: the largest community in the category and real enterprise features.
It is a server you operate, sized for teams, and its merge lives behind an admin template. Big-AGI is a workbench you open in the browser: no deployment, per-prompt Fusions in your hands, parameters next to the chat. Worth knowing before you commit: their docs concede slowdowns at scale, and since the 2025 license change, removing their branding at 50+ users needs an enterprise deal.
They run models on your machine well, and both are refocusing on agents (LM Studio now leads with Bionic).
A different job. Point Big-AGI at your local engine and it sits beside GPT, Claude, and Gemini in the same chats and the same beams. LM Link mirrors a running desktop to a phone; it is remote access, not a copy: when the desktop sleeps, so does your history.
Local engines in Big-AGI ->The most polished local desktop suite, now a product family: Studio, Claw, Nexus.
Split Chats compare side by side, then you pick the best answer yourself: there is no merge. And their docs say it plainly: data does not sync between devices. Beam fuses; Cloud Sync follows you.
Now “your Chief Agent Operator”: agent teams, credit plans, a very large community.
It has left the chat-client lane. If you want an agent staffing service, it is interesting. If you want N models on one prompt, a merge you control, and keys you own, that is this page.
“LobeChat has clean UI design, but not really good beam-like functionality.”

The open-source stalwart: MIT-licensed, polished, and backed by ClickHouse since November 2025.
Its center of gravity is enterprise analytics now. There is no parallel multi-model and no merge; forking a conversation is not fusing five answers. Excellent self-hosted team UI; not a multi-model workbench.
Excellent apps, each married to one model family and one subscription.
Big-AGI runs the families side by side on your own keys at provider rates, with the controls the consumer apps hide. Most of our users came from one of these, and ChatGPT histories import.
Beam shipped in April 2024. The pattern went mainstream two years later: Karpathy's llm-council named the genre in late 2025, Perplexity's Model Council arrived in February 2026 on the $200-a-month tier, OpenRouter's Fusion in June 2026 behind an API. The labs run their own models in parallel too, but only their own. Big-AGI has been at this the whole time, across vendors, with the merge in your hands.

Sign in and bring your API keys: Big-AGI does not charge for model usage or limit which models you can access. You pay providers directly at their own rates, with no markup and no intermediary. Pro ($10.99/mo) adds cloud sync of chats and personas across devices.
Yes, and that is the point: your key, your data, provider rates. Add OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, or any of 30+ providers, point it at your OpenRouter key, or run local engines like Ollama, LM Studio, and LocalAI.
Yes: import ChatGPT shared-link conversations directly. And everything you make here exports to JSON or Markdown, so the door swings both ways.
The core is MIT-licensed on GitHub, where the project started in 2023. The hosted app at big-agi.com is the commercial product built on that foundation: sign in, bring your keys, and the workbench is yours.
Launch in the browser, add a key, and run every model side by side. No install, no card, no lock-in. Keys stay on your device; chats are local first. If it is not for you, your keys and your data walk out with you.
